Course Title: Receipt, Storage and Installation of Hollow Metal Doors and Frames

Upon completion of this course, the designer will be able to:

  • Discuss the importance of inspecting hollow doors and frames upon receipt and storing these products properly prior to installation.
  • Demonstrate the necessary steps to successfully install hollow metal frames, prioritizing worker safety and product durability.
  • Evaluate anchoring systems and choose which type best applies to different applications based on wall construction.
  • Recognize standards, product performance testing and education that promote safe installation and operation of hollow metal doors and frames.
  • Illustrate the correct installation and anchoring techniques for hollow metal frames.

Course Title: The HMMA Hollow Metal Manual

This webinar session will be an overview of HMMA’s Hollow Metal Manual. Attendees will become better acquainted with the benefits of Hollow Metal doors through a review of terminology, the manufacture process, application components, and more. Attendees will also gain crucial knowledge for specifying Hollow Metal doors and frames through an overview of the Hollow Metal Manual including fabrication, standards, and applications.

Course Title: HMMA 840, Guide Specification for Installation and Storage of Hollow Metal Doors and Frames

This webinar session describe the necessary precautions for the successful installation and operation of hollow metal frames and list the requirements for the successful installation and operation of hollow metal frames. The proper jobsite receipt and storage of hollow metal doors and frames will be reviewed. This session will also illustrate the correct Installation and anchoring techniques for hollow metal frames.

Course Title:  Standards for Expanded Metal: Selection, Manufacture & Application


Upon completion of this course, the designer will be able to:

  • Explain what expanded metal is and how it is manufactured, including various materials, designs, and applications
  • Recall standards put forth by the Expanded Metal Manufacturers Association regarding specifications and manufacturing tolerances so that expanded metal is installed properly and safely

  • Illustrate how expanded metal is a sustainable material that can be used to apply for LEED credits for recyclable material and local resources

  • Apply new knowledge to specify and install expanded metal according to EMMA standards so that new expanded metal applications are safe and accessible for future occupants
